Description

Nemaslug Alternative

Treats 40 sqm - use when soil temperature is above 5°C.  This is a great alternative to Nemaslug, it works in exactly the same way.

We supply packs of microscopic beneficial nematodes, Phasmarhabditis californica, (eelworms) which are watered into pots or open ground.  This is a perishable product, do not buy in advance.

Application instructions are detailed below.

Slugs eat leaves, stems and roots of plants, weakening them and often causing them to die.

They leave slimy trails over plants and soil, and are particularly devastating to seedlings and cuttings. Slugs leave their own individual scent trails so they can find their way home. There are other creatures (like caterpillars) who make big holes in leaves, but if you see the tell-tale slime, then slugs are the culprit!

Slugs come in many shapes and sizes and are commonplace around the garden,Natural Pest Control particularly in damp conditions.

Infestations are less serious in dry weather but tend to become a problem during prolonged rainy weather. An individual grey field slug has the potential to produce 90,000 grandchildren and has approximately 27,000 teeth!

They live underground during the day, emerging at night to feed. One cubic metre of garden will on average contain up to 200 slugs.

The packs of microscopic beneficial nematodes, Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita, are watered into pots or open ground with a watering can or hose. They enter the slug through a hole in its back while it is underground and poison it so that it will die within a few days underground, out of sight.

The product works best when used early in the season and consistently every 6 weeks until the end of the season, but you can start anytime.

The soil to be treated must be above 5°C for the product to work, use by the date stated on the pack, store in the fridge until use.  Do not freeze the product.  The stock solution cannot be stored and each pack should be used in one go.

Keep stirring throughout the application as the product will sink.

Rain is the best condition for application but it can be applied in any condition.  Hot direct sunlight may cause the treated ground to dry out too quickly. The area must not completely dry out for 2 weeks after application.  Heavy rainfall does not affect the product. One application lasts for up to 6 weeks.

Be a smarter gardener

Gardening organically is a more affordable and long term alternative to using chemical fertilisers. Natural Grower products eliminate waste because the nutrients are slowly released to the plants as they need them. Over the long-term you save money because your soil health naturally improves, which in turn produces healthier, stronger, disease resistant plants. Chemical products may cost less financially in the short term, but they don’t provide any long-term benefits and the damage they do to the natural eco-system in the soil is costly.

Slow release for sustained growth

Organic fertilisers are broken down slowly by organisms in the soil to produce a more measured, consistent, natural release of nutrients. This results in uniform growth with strong stems and leaves, unlike chemical fertilisers which provide a sudden boost resulting in tall lanky plants. Stronger plants are more resistant to disease, and with the presence of mycorrizhal fungi to strengthen the roots, the plants, soil and fungi all work together long-term to create the perfect natural eco-system.

Love your land

The organic matter in Natural Grower will help keep your soil or compost in optimum condition, retain moisture over the dry summer months and improve the health and structure of your soil. The presence of natural Mycorrhizal fungi in our products enhances root growth, enabling plants to extract nutrients and absorb water more efficiently from the soil or compost. By using our products you will be supporting and enhancing the natural eco-system in the soil.

Embrace sustainability

Natural Grower’s chemical free fertiliser products are approved organic, biodynamic and vegan. Plant-based and free from chemicals they are safe to use around wildlife, pets and children. Eco-friendly and sustainably produced in the UK. Our packaging is made from recycled plastic where possible and is all 100% recyclable. We are always happy to refill used containers, and often sell our products in reused containers or slightly damaged packaging at a reduced price. Reduce, reuse, recycle.
